Of course, i have put up a new chapter today, Calm After the Storm is part 24 of Fame and as it happens is a bit longer than the preceding chapters, i hope you enjoy it. As i mentioned last time, it could be a fortnight before i can post properly again, depends to some extent on still unconfirmed plans for my return south. Tomorrow i'll tackle the rest of the packing, essentially clothing then i'll be set. It was a nice day if a bit windy in places but only just made the metric century! I wanted to get in another decent ride before my mid week departure without doing anything too onerous so i took a spin out to the Severn, up the river to Berkeley before looping back towards the Cotswolds and down to Brizzle. Then i set off in the afternoon sunshine for a longer walk - i was out for over an hour but it was only about 5km. I started Saturday with the laundry before giving the bike a quick clean, fitting the front pannier rack and packing the camping gear. Then it was the run for home, i got the GPS working again, seems the issues were power related, anyhow the ride came in 65 miles, enough for a warm day. Anyhow, i made my way to Devizes, more precisely the Caen lock flight, a series of some dozen canal locks stacked one above the other, where i stopped at the cafe for some lunch. Whatever, the forecast for Friday was pretty good so i set off for parts east only to have issues with my GPS - i use it for recording where i've been rather than to navigate, i can use the Iphone but it eats battery. Okay, other stuff did get bumped a bit but i was irked that the day was effectively dry. Thursday was a bit of a fail, the forecast said wet so instead of going for a ride, i didn't. Hope you enjoyed “Rama Lama Ding Dong” by The Edsels.I've been quite busy the last few days, my routine has been mucked about by the weather but after a rash of doubts, i'm nearly ready to set off on my first 'proper' bike trip since i went to Sweden in 2019.
